Neolux Skeleton – The Movement is the Dial
For most watches, the dial hides the movement. With the Neolux Skeleton, the movement is the dial. The skeletonised design exposes the mechanics from the front and from the back. If you want to know what's inside an automatic watch, there's nothing left to speculate about here.
The movement: Miyota 8N40
Inside sits the Miyota 8N40 – a Japanese automatic calibre developed specifically for skeletonised watches. The rotor and plate are designed to be seen, not just revealed: the movement is part of the aesthetic, not just the technology behind it. Power reserve is around 42 hours, accuracy runs at -20 to +40 seconds per day – solid for a Japanese automatic. The movement winds itself through wrist motion and can also be wound manually via the crown.
The dual-view construction gives you sight of the movement from both sides – through the skeletonised dial from the front, through the case back from behind. For watch enthusiasts, that's a reason to buy in itself.
Case and materials
42 mm diameter, 11.5 mm height – the Neolux Skeleton is a touch taller than flat dress watches thanks to the skeleton construction, but still sits comfortably in daily wear. The brushed 316L steel case is hypoallergenic and corrosion-resistant. Water resistance to 5 ATM means rain and hand washing are fine. The sapphire-hardened mineral glass with inner anti-reflective coating protects the open dial from scratches and keeps it readable even in direct light.
Superluminova
The hands carry BGW9 Superluminova – white in daylight, glowing turquoise blue in the dark. On a skeletonised dial that already offers less contrast than a closed one, this isn't optional decoration. It's a functional advantage: the watch stays readable even when the light disappears.
Who is the Neolux Skeleton right for?
For anyone who doesn't just wear automatic watches but wants to understand them. The Neolux Skeleton is for people who know the difference between a rotor and a balance wheel – or want to find out. The skeletonised design makes the mechanics legibly visible without tipping into pure tech fetishism. Graphic structure, open construction, Japanese reliability. A watch you don't just put on – you choose it.
The strap
The rePET strap in recycled material gives the Neolux Skeleton an urban-sporty character that suits the graphic dial well. The leather strap makes the look more classic and adds weight. The mesh strap reads lighter and more modern. The linked steel bracelet brings out the technical side of the watch. All straps swap tool-free.
